Criteria for Admissions

The school follows the Local Education Authority’s criteria for admissions.  When there are more applicants than there are places available, places will be allocated in the following order:

  • Children with a statement of special educational need that specifies the school as the placement school
  • Children in public care
  • Children who have brothers and sisters in attendance at the school (this includes full, step, half, and adopted brothers and sisters)
  • Children living closest to the school.

The basis on which the latter will be decided will be distance, judged by the shortest route by road or publicly maintained footpath.  Accessibility of private or public transport will not be considered.  All distances will be measured using a computerised Geographical Information System (GIS).

In the event that we are unable to offer a place we will place your child’s name on our waiting list.

Appeals Procedure

Under the School Standards and Framework Act 1988, you have the right to appeal to an independent appeals panel.
You will receive an appeals form and information about the procedure with your notification letter if you are unsuccessful in obtaining a place a Kew Riverside Primary School.
